Product FAQ's
The scanner is not allowing me to change between image formats, why could this be?

1. Ensure You Are Using the Correct Film Holder

  • The Epson V850 Pro automatically detects the film holder inserted.
  • For 35mm negatives, use the 35mm film holder, not the 120 medium format holder.
  • If the 120 holder is still in place, the scanner might think you're still using medium format.

2. Restart the Epson Scan Software

  • Close Epson Scan 2 (or Epson Scan if using an older version).
  • Unplug the scanner from the power source and wait 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and restart the software.

3. Check the “Document Type” in Professional Mode

  • Open Epson Scan in Professional Mode.
  • Ensure Document Type is set to Film (with Film Holder).
  • If it’s still locked to Medium Format, proceed to the next step.

4. Reset the Epson Scan Settings

  • Open Epson Scan.
  • Click on Configuration (or "Settings").
  • Look for a "Reset" or "Restore Defaults" button.
  • Click it and restart the software.

5. Make Sure the Scanner Lid Is Fully Closed

  • The V850 uses sensors to detect the film holder type.
  • A slightly open lid can sometimes cause detection issues.
What types of media can the Epson V850 scan?

The Epson V850 can scan various types of media including prints, film (35mm, medium format, and large format), slides, negatives and documents.
